How will a school administrator know whether Ballroom Cafe is right for his/her school?
Ballroom Cafe offers a one-day sampler of Ballroom Cafe in action! For a longer taste of the benefits of Ballroom Cafe, a principal may want to try our 3-week, 3-dance sampler.
Principals may also request a taste of Ballroom Cafe for 2nd semester 3rd graders in cases where a residency is being considered for the same students the following school year.
8 - 10 WEEK RESIDENCIES
The core of Ballroom Cafe is the 8-10 week residency held during the school day two times per week. During these weeks, a teaching artist from Ballroom Cafe will teach several ballroom dances to 4th, 5th, or 6th grade students.
Ballroom Cafe uses a curriculum-integration approach, connecting ballroom dancing to other subjects. The teaching artist uses the medium of social dance to teach about respect, teamwork, dignity, honor for the opposite gender, and the basic social skills which instill confidence and impart to students a vision of the future they could have.
